Who Can Join?
The Atomic Rollergirls welcome skaters of all skill levels. If you are willing to put in the work and make the commitment to learn, we're here to help you achieve your goals. If you're interested in becoming a Referee or a Non-Skating Official, we can provide you with the training you'll need!
How We Train
Our practice schedule consist of two nights per week on skates and one session off-skates of strength and conditioning training.
How we Play
All new skaters will begin at our Level 1 Training (The Lab Rats). This is a 12 week program that will teach new skaters the basics of skating form and safety. It is an also an introduction to basic roller derby skills. Skaters must be age 18 years or older. This portion of training is minimal-contact and there is a basic skills test that skaters must pass before progressing to the next level of training.
Level 2 Training (Up and Atom!) is for skaters that have already passed the Lab Rats skill assessment or already have basic skills, from previous roller derby training. In L2, skaters will focus on game play and strategy, with emphasis on contact drills, endurance and strength conditioning. Training concludes with an assessment test and a written test, that will evaluate a skaters readiness to begin intra-league bouting. This is the level required for all skaters that want to skate within our B / C Level Team, The Radioactive WRECK'ers
Level 3 Training is for skaters that have passed all the previous skill levels, practical and written test. This training is for inter-league bouting skaters (Travel Team). Only L3 skaters are eligible to be placed on rosters for Travel Team games.
